Project Portfolio
Sleepyhead Ohinewai foam factory
Ohinewai Steel were engaged by NZ Comfort Group to set up a mezzanine system in their new purpose-built foam factory in Ohinewai.
The system was designed to allow for a smaller footprint when pumping Polyol from holding tanks up through the pouring head. This involved modifications to existing heat exchangers and pumps, in order for it to work in a smaller space. The fabrication of this structure used Carbon and Stainless Steel 3” scheduled pipe.
Upon completing fabrication of the frame within our workshop, we arranged for it to be sandblasted & painted, then proceeded to construct it inside the factory.
Other projects within the factory included setting up all the feed pumps and unload pumps. Ohinewai Steel also fabricated larger structures, including the walkway framework, pipe bridge framework, and ducting support beams. Our innovative fabrication team also built prototype machinery in-house to unload stock drums of hazardous chemicals to store in holding tanks.
This long-term project gave our company the opportunity to grow and mature, as it encouraged us to put systems in place to facilitate the project management of such a large-scale assignment.
